A Experience of the Tibial Rotating Knee Prosthesis "Endo" Model (15 cases)

Abstract
The so-called tibial rotating knee prosthesis £¢Endo£¢model, is a hinge construction approximating the range of motion to physiological dimensions of an incorporated axial rotation. We experienced 15 knees which underwent £¢Endo£¢model,
intercondylar
Total Rotating knee Arthroplasy with an average follow-up of 2 years and 6 months. The clinical results of the 15 knees in 11 patietns were evaluated.
1. The average age at the time of operation was 61 year(ranging from 52 years to 67 years).
The sex of the patients consisted of 3 males and 8 females.
2. The underlying diagnosis was osteoarthritis in 11 knees, rheumatoid arthritis in 2, post-traumatic arthritis and neuropathic arthropathry in one each.
3. The average range of motion increased from 95.2 degrees peroperative, to 99.5 degrees postoperatively.
4. The average flexion contracture deecreased from 22 degrees preoperatively, to 6.5 detgrees postperatively.
5. The average preoperative hospital for special surgery knee rating score was 42.2 points, and psotpocratively average score improved to 86 points. The excellent cases were six (40%); the good, seven (46%); the fair, one (7%) and the poor,
one(7%).
6. Revision arthroplasty was performed 6 months later in one knee due to a deep infection. Summary, early clinical follow-up observations suggest that rotating knee arthroplasty can be successful especially in elder patients with a severely
deformed knee, with easy operative technique. With respect to implant size, however design modificaton will obviously be necessary for small Korean.
